"Hush" is a feministic project, was painted and sprayed on this huge wall in Amman, Jordan as a part of WOW Baladk graffiti festival.. The artwork is modified from a past graffiti I made in Mahmoud Mokhtar cultural center in Egypt few years ago..
The calligraphy behind the figure can be collected to read words like "عيب shame on you" , "هش hush" , "ممنوع forbidden" , "لا no" in golden tones..
It doesn't matter if she's poor, rich.. young, old.. Many women in different Arab countries and some other countries get hushed by the community or family, sometimes under the name of traditions, or religion, or because of any other reason.. But what I'm sure of is that it's just for controling and practicing masculinity on women, who sometimes acquiesce under pressures of community..

This was the empty wall before adding my artwork.. Huge ha.. It's the hugest scale I ever worked on..
1st I had to paint the background
Then added the outlines.. I thought I needed a projector but coz I couldn't have a projector at that time, I began drawing the outline freehand.. and I was amazed that I could do it accurately on a scale like this!!!
Using the crane was a challenge for me.. Specially that I feel dizzy from heights!! I asked some people to help a little in the upper part coz it was really hard I felt like I will really fall of the crane..
Then adding the black and white..
Then adding the calligraphy and some golden parts
Then sprayed the calligraphy in golden color.. Thanx Mike who helped with this part..
And the above one is after adding the black stroke around the calligraphy and finishing it
And that was at night in the finale .. I was so proud of it when I looked at it after it's totally finished.. I have to thank everyone helped even if a little to accomplish this lovely piece of art.. thanx a lot..
