In this personal project I’ve wanted to redesign the cover of “The Countess” (in italian “La Contessa Nera”) of Rebecca Johns.
This book is about Erzsébet Báthory but not as we know her, a sadistic serial killer, but as a woman who only defend herself.
Questo è un personale progetto di creazione di una nuova copertina per il libro "La Contessa Nera" di Rebecca Johns.
In questo libro su Erzsébet Báthory essa non ci è presentata per la sadica assassina che noi conosciamo, ma come una donna che ha solo utilizzato il male per difendersi.
I used a stone wall as background to refer to the tower in which the Countess was walled up alive, the suffering expression of the woman is a reference to the Erzsébet who Johns is narrating us.
However in the mirror we can see the famous tank where, they says, she bathed in blood, which is recalled both the stain on the ground and which drips from the mouth of the lion, to remember the accusations against the woman.
Ho utilizzato un muro di pietra come sfondo per richiamare la torre in cui la contessa venne murata viva e l’espressione della donna che la rappresenta è sofferente per richiamare l’Erzsébet che la Johns i racconta. Tuttavia nello specchio si nota la famosa vasca in cui si dice essa si facesse il bagno di sangue, richiamato sia dalla macchia per terra che da quella che esce dalla bocca del leone, per ricordare le accuse rivolte alla donna.
