SJSU Bravo! Campaign

Revitalizing support for the arts
San José State University had just merged visual and performing arts into a single program. To celebrate and promote the departmental change, the “Bravo!” campaign provided key recruitment material, adaptable format for weekly concert programs and playbills.

Campaign provided individuality to the departments but tied back to the brand of the university.
Celebrating achievements through Bravo!
Uniting efforts
The theme of “Bravo!” is to celebrate the achievements of the students, the program and highlight the events in the visual and performing arts department. While still disperse location-wise, this campaign was one of the first main efforts to bring the previously three different departments together. These collateral pieces were able to bring awareness with the different events across the program. The various pieces of the campaign had positive feedback in the community, with students, professors and staff-members having renewed pride in the university.

Process and approach
The different samples were added to the campaign project with different timeline and were based on ad hoc requirements of the department. This extended my role of mostly visual design to include project manager and copy editor. Although design requirements might not have been defined upfront, the visual system I had to create needed to accommodate for the different uses with enough flexibility and customizable module layouts. In all pieces of the campaign, the design principles kept with strong typography, clear hierarchy and university brand visuals.
