FORESTIAL
In FORESTIAL, a connection is made between topographical location and psychological space, raising questions about time, place and memory. It is an attempt to trace, and perhaps also recover, past locations and buried memories of past events. This is done by directing attention towards those kind of locations, spots, places, that only ever act as “background”. These are the kinds of places that are close nearby, “always there”, yet linger in the periphery in our consciousnesses; they are never the center of attention or the center stage.

The drawings of FORESTIAL all depict forests from areas around the place where I grew up. In reality, these locations are often hidden or unnoticed, small and confined. But when translated into drawings, the space seem almost limitless; one can easily imagine the forest continuing on infinitely behind those trees that are blocking the view in the far distant.
