unOs, The first sink manufactured in OSB
The challenge of domECO designers was to push the boundaries of OSB everyday applications and create a sink made out entirely of chipboard panel, a task made possible thanks to the artisanal skill of D. Moretti of Ebanisteria Meccanica.
UnOs design, developed by domECO team, was strictly influenced by the material’s features. A regular rectangular shape was chosen and 45° joint where preferred for the visible sides. In fact, thought an L connection between panels would be easier to obtain, it would interrupt the uniform texture of the surface that was our final aim.
To avoid such complicated joints in parts where a lot of water flows, the bottom of the sink was created by lightly flexing the panel, skillfully crafted in order to avoid water gatherings near the joints and the drain.
The pieces forming the sink have urdergone a seires of processing to make them waterproof, matte satin painting that enlightens the wood strands color palette.
The prototype of unOs so created is now facing the hardest of trials: it has been installed in one of the most popular bars in town.
