As a final project for a Packaging course, we had to design a keepsake/token/memento that will be given to VIP tickets' holders at the 2012 London Olympics.
As a "diehard" basketball fan, I picked the game of Basketball (DUH) and started researching more about the subject. What I noticed is that the host city gets too much attention (2012 Olympics are held in London), this year's motto is "Inspire a Generation" and the targeted audience are individuals (mainly males) aged between 15 and 45.
The solution I came up with is pretty much straight to the point.
On 3 of the 4 sides of the box, illustrations of famous basketball players are found, wearing their national team uniform. When you take off the "head" part, their skull shows with an inspiring quote they said. When you take off their "shorts" part, their trousers show with the logo of the team that they play or used to play with.
On the 4th side the telephone booth or queen's guard illustration is found. The bottom part contains a QR code that, once scanned, takes you to the London Olympics website.
