When developing the concept for 2012's marketing materials, my objective was to represent the automotive industry (more specifically, the hot rod industry) as well as the actual purpose of Education Day. With this in mind and with this event being held only once per year, I felt that the idea of Refueling would be a strong conceptual direction. In the opening message, we asked participants to "take this day of education and use it to refuel (their) car building knowledge". Cars need to be refueled sometimes and so do humans :)
To visually support this idea and the historic nature of the hot rod industry, I included vintage illustrations throughout the book. They worked well as cohesive elements between the concept and copy.
This 8.5 x 5", coil-bound notebook was made available for all Education Day participants.
