2010 East Coast Surfing Championships
Skimboard Competition
Since it's first event in 1963, my hometown of Virginia Beach holds the annual East Coast Surfing Championships.There are hundreds of spectators, live performances, auto-races, food, and music from all across the Hampton Roads and beyond. I'm a beach lover and an avid skimboarder. Not many people know much about skimboarders or have seen it as much of a sport. Though it doesn't receive the amount of attention than that of surfing does, it remains as an underground sport that has evolved onto a whole new level.
At the time I was filming this event I was having a lot of sinus problems. My ears were clogged and I couldn't hear much from anyone around me. Me and a local skimboard community known as Virginia Beach Skimmunity House took part in the event and I provided media coverage for the competitors.
