"Festa do Avante" is an event promoted by the portuguese communist party. However and politics aside, it gathers an amazing range of cultural opportunities [conferences, concerts, debates, theatre, sports and movies] that together with fantastic samples of the best portuguese cuisine from every region, makes this 3 day event that takes place every year at the beginning of September, almost mandatory for a lot of people (being comunist or not!). In fact it does end with the usual rally and speech, even so and since (as we use to say...) you "do not get pregnant by your ears", you may find yourself enjoying the spirit of fellowship that captivates everyone curious and open-minded enough, independently from his political point of view.
