'The kuna People' - Look 1

Fashion design: The Kuna People / Assignment for Syntra, Antwerp.

The Kuna people is an indigenous ethnic group living mainly in the Guna Yala region of Panama. They are known for their colorful traditional clothing, especially the Molas, handmade textile pieces often used as part of their costumes. These garments are often decorated with complicated geometric designs that represent traditional symbols and stories of Kuna culture.

In recent years, some Kuna communities have combined their traditional textile
practices with modern sustainable methods, including the use of recycled cotton fibers.
The recycled cotton I used for this silhouette refers to cotton fibers that are recovered
from used textiles and then recycled to make new fabrics. This process helps reduce waste and extend the life of cotton fibers.
