For this year's YCN Student Awards night in London, we were asked by Nick Defty and his team to design a range of decorations for the evening, which was held at the Mariott Hotel in Mayfair. We designed over 30 centrepieces, stage decorations and place cards, as well as the framed awards themselves - all of which came together to complement the celebrated event.

 

The theme we chose for the evening was Diamond in the Rough, an illustrative way of describing the students selected for the awards. Fitting with this, the centrepieces consisted of oversized iridescent paper diamonds, hovering above a lit rocky base. Each guest at the dinner received a cutout diamond to take home with them, and to match these the awards were also cut-through iridescent papers.
