VISION & STORY
Debdatta came to us with the idea of a photoshoot based on Rabindranath Tagore's dark short story "The Lost Jewels," or, in its orirginal namesake — "মণিহারা"

The idea was to shoot in the middle of winter, preferrably in the foggy grounds of Maidan, Kolkata to capture the mysterious aura the short story is so rightly acclaimed for. 

However, discussions and planning led us to the ghats of Ganga near Ahiritala and we ended up submerging ourselves and our model (bless her) in the chilling waters of the Holy River in the middle of December, just to get the right shot. 

Amature at best and not equipped with the best lighting or camera techniques, Manihara was a passion project that we almost slept on but at the end was able to drag to completion, much like Moni and her journey — dead, but not quite.
