Vector Artwork
This project was created for an assignment where the students had to create an image that represents a country or culture of the student's choice. They had to create an image using only vector tools in Photoshop, such as the Pen tool and Shape tool. The students had to do some research in order to accurately represent their choice. They were also allowed to use textures and patterns.
The Philippines is the country/culture I chose to base my project on. The country is mostly an archipelago consisting of many islands surrounded by the sea, geological formations that I recreated as a beach and the water. The country also has a tropical climate, which I chose to represent with a palm tree in the foreground, a grouping of trees with a rainforest texture in the background.
The boats in the water are called bangka, a type of boat created in the Philippines. The terraces in the background are meant to represent the Banaue Rice Terraces, which were carved into the Ifugao mountains of the Philippines in order to plant large amounts of rice. These terraces are estimated to be around 2000 years old.
