The structure of the sky

Art diploma of the Flat Printing and Lithography Studio 2023

The main inspiration for my art diploma titled "The structure of the sky" was fascination with the sky, admiration for nature, curiosity about what exists beyond, and the cosmos. When we talk about the symbolism of the sky, we can associate it with concepts such as infinity, the afterlife, purity, salvation, world order, harmony, holiness, light, endurance, permanence, faithfulness, and spirituality. Clouds, on the other hand, symbolize mystery, ignorance, often rain, transience, unconsciousness, disfavor, threat, impending danger, concealment, invisibility, and divine wrath.

In choosing the color palette, I remained within shades of blues, sometimes heavily tinted with shades of gray, reminiscent of the nighttime firmament. Blue, being a pure color, is usually associated with clear, sunny skies.

As a result of being inspired by experiments conducted around 2022/2023, the current series of 8 works, each measuring 100x70 cm, was created. The graphics were produced in the Flat Printing and Lithography Studio using the offset technique. This technique involves manual manipulation of an offset plate, which is coated with photosensitive emulsion (usually in blue or green). Both the technique and the artistic means of expression used in the diploma project they were not random actions. Due to their nature, they complemented what I wanted to convey the most, which is the unpredictability of complex structures, which we can also observe by looking at the sky.
