Crane Installation Design - Inspiration

The gold fans of ancient China, popular during the Ming Dynasty, featured a unique craft technique. This involved creating diamond-shaped patterns on the golden fan surface. Specifically, gold leaf was applied to the fan surface, and then either ink with a brush or extremely fine engraving with a knife was used to create the diamond-shaped designs.
The diamond-shaped stitches keep recurring in my mind. This geometric pattern can also be found on the bodies of cranes and fish. So, I am attempting to create a crane installation with stitched diamond paper. Alexander Calder's mobile installations and the shape of pine trees, which resemble birds opening their wings, inspire me. I believe these elements can be combined to form an abstract version of a crane that I envision. The materials I will use include metal, paper, wood, and wire.
