This piece, for my Foundation Design 2D class, focuses on the third major element of design: color. My assignment was to create 3 compositions utilizing different types of color. From left to right: (1) Volcano in red-orange monochromatic (one single color on the wheel with shades & tints), (2) Hurricane in red and green complementary (two colors opposite on the wheel), (3) Tornado in blue, blue-green, and green analogous (three consecutive colors on the wheel). All comps were made using gouache paint mixed with color pencils on bristol paper.
