Wolf & Crane 2013

I and my colleague, Carrie Hack (check out her website www.carriehack.com) were asked to design a contemporary and functional “Salt and pepper" shaker and produce a small serial production; which can be placed into a specific & current market, address a specific need, suggest a solution and also coincide with today’s life-style demands. Our common interest in relating modern design with simplistic forms and colors within ceramics brought us to collaboration with this project.

The Wolf and the Crane salt and pepper shaker set is based on the Wolf and Crane narrative of Aesop's Fable. Moral of the story is "Gratitude and greed go not together."Its origami, paper-folded design combines modern aesthetic with the background of a traditional story. The set is designed to teach a lesson to children and to be a reminder to adults alike within a table setting.

The maquettes were made out of paper folding and we drew 3d objects on Rhinoceros based on paper folded maquettes. We 3d printed the prototypes in plastic and made plaster mold out of them for slipcasting.

Displayed and sold at Bluecashew Kitchen Pharmacy in Rhinebeck, New York in 2013
