For the menu project, I had to make a logo for a restaurant and a menu to match with six to eight menu items, each with their own descriptions and prices. The catch was that we could only use up to three colors, with black counting as a color, and no pictures. For my project, I decided to take inspiration from my mother’s business, “Creative Confections by Megan Thomas”, but for the logo I shortened it to just “Creative Confections” so it would fit in the stylized icing. I decided to take advantage of being allowed to use different values within the same hue to make the three tiers of the cake logo seem to be on top of one another without an actual cake to separate them. I made the category names the largest text, followed by the individual items, and finally by the descriptions to create hierarchy and lead the viewer’s eye to the menu items in a cohesive manner. Finally, I used an outline that matched the pink on the logo to add some color to the rest of the menu without using an illustration.
