Sheffield and London Primary Research - 11

During the college trip to Sheffield my peer and I came across the cathedral. After entering, I didn’t expect to see stories told within the glass. I was aware that stained glass windows often hold some narrative but these windows were quite modern which meant I could properly read them and understand what was going on.
This trip gave me the idea to try and attempt to digitally create some of my own stained glass windows.
On the 20th of March I went to London to visit the National Gallery and the Royal Academy of Arts with my mum. This was a really lovely experience as I got to see many of my favourite pieces in person, discover new artists, and to collect lots and lots of primary research.
This trip to London helped me come up with the idea for my final piece. After seeing so many religious triptychs and becoming fascinated with how it tells a story in such a brief yet intricate way, I decided this is what I wanted to do. I was going to pick a religious story that had already been told and subvert it into something new using symbolic objects and poses to help tell the narrative.
