I had the pleasure of crafting a fresh brand identity for Kate Soar Creative Strategy (KSCS), with a clear aim: a design that speaks to recognizing the inherent vulnerability in seeking creative guidance and cultivate an atmosphere that's inviting and secure.
KSCS specializes in helping creative minds navigate the maze of their ambitious ideas. The approach is simple: lay it all out on the table, whether your ideas are fully formed or still taking shape; and together we’ll find the path to clarity and cohesion. Her clientele is a league of seasoned professionals who, despite their past successes, have encountered roadblocks.
As a result, the visual identity for KSCS exudes a sense of seasoned expertise and professionalism: serif typefaces paired with a cool-toned color palette inspired by nature, all wrapped up in minimalist layouts.
Now, let's talk about my favorite part of this project: the custom lettering for the logo. We decided to give a nod to Kate's fondness for backslashes by crafting custom "k" and "y" characters with backslashes forming their spines. The vertical logo is my personal favorite, it came together so organically. The way the "k" and "y" embrace each other at either end, it's like they're giving you a warm hug. It subtly communicates the support and commitment KSCS offers her clients throughout their creative journey.
Breaking away from the norm, KSCS is skipping the online presence and marketing efforts and instead taking a different route—a word-of-mouth approach. Without a website or social media to rely on, our challenge was to ensure that our logo suite could convey everything KSCS represents in a single glance; growing, elevating and evolving .
This challenge pushed us to delve deeper into the broader goals and operational nuances of KSCS. With no online presence, the primary support system revolves around the real-life interactions Kate shares with her clients and understanding this dynamic was crucial in my design process. The result? A brand identity that not only complements but elevates the overall experience, ensuring that every interaction with KSCS leaves a lasting impression!
