For my poster design, I looked to incorporate a 90's fun creative concept illustrating the connection of music and dance. I used Illustrator to design and draw an outline of a record player and a disco dance ball to give it a fun yet entertaining feel. Originally the disco ball was designed blue to match the shining sparkle of lights in the background but changed to white, grey, and silver connecting the image of the ball to the record player. It was important to create a shine and make these images pop with a focus on images in a spotlight. The blue streaks shinning down as spotlights from the ball showcases silhouetted images of the actual studios dancers and links the ball to the dancers and the musical element. Using a dark background with similar tones in blue, grey and white aids to elevate this special event of 30 years of dance and their theme of Greatest Hits. These elements were carried through to the t-shirt and program cover. Since The Dance Company is celebrating its 30th anniversary, I created a logo using Illustrator with a circular wave design to create the number 30 in a circular design of ocean waves, as the studio is located steps from the beach.
