At the end of every year, the Architectural League of New York hosts the Beaux Arts Ball, a themed costume gala for architects. They chose “Less is More” as the theme for the ball.
Our posters and invites do just what the theme says: at a distance, the posters appear completely black. As the reader moves closer, the info becomes visible, and less becomes more. To create the concept, a dot-based typeface was created and applied to the poster and invites. Created under Michael Bierut at Pentagram.
