This project was made for a 4 hour Hackathon. The idea was to make something with my roommate that we could both enjoy and we decided on a spear. The spear itself is made from a wooden dowel from home depot, a scrap piece of metal, leather wraps and e6000 adhesive.

We started by drawing the shape of the spearhead onto a piece of flat scrap metal, measuring out how long we wanted the spear's tang and blade.

We burned the dowel with a torch and covered in linseed oil as a protective layer.

The spear head was cut out using an angle grinder and fit into a slot in the dowel we cut using a bandsaw.

After using e6000 to glue the spearhead in place, we wrapped the connection in leather with more e6000 and nailed the ends in place. Building this project was a lot of fun, and hopefully not the last that my roommate and I make together.
