personal project — building a table

Firstly, I started to sketch up a ruff concept.

Secondly, I created a CAD-model to gain a greater understanding of dimensions and aesthetics.

Thirdly I built the table. I designed the table for the kitchen seen in the final pictures. The idea was to create a table that could serve as a kitchen island, hence the tall hight of the furniture. When the house in which the table stands was built in 1925 spare pine wood used in the construction was saved. That spare pine wood makes up the tabletop of the table. I hid all screw holes with wooden plugs and painted the legs and the lower frame in a matte light grey colour to gain a contrast between the old wood and the more modern styled construction on which it lays.
