For this student project we were tasked with creating a handmade poster using only black, white, and gray colors/media. The place I chose to base my poster off of was an outdoor shopping center. A requirement for this poster was to include a call to action or a big idea.

To start, I visited my interesting place and took photos, so that I could create a realistic graphic.

While at the shopping center and while taking photos, I also drew some thumbnails showing different places and areas of the area. I also wrote down some sounds and conversations I heard. 

From the photos and thumbnails, I chose 3 to take and turn into roughs for my final poster. Each design focuses on a different aspects and details of the shopping mall.

My final poster was created using, pencils, micron pens, sharpie, and a brush pen. I started with outlining the buildings, then moved to the palm trees, then added little details to the buildings and sidewalk. The text was created using the graphite transfer method, then with micron pen. The big idea is "the pinnacle of outdoor shopping" meaning that the Shops at Norterra is one of the top outdoor malls in the Phoenix Valley.
