Digital Postcard
1.0 Short Proposal
Welcome to 'Me, Myself, and I,' where digital image composition becomes a journey of self-discovery. In this assignment, I utilize graphic editing software, Adobe Photoshop, to create TWO digital postcards. Through seamless blending of imagery, typography, and colors, are aim to convey a profound understanding of identity and embrace the empowerment of self-expression. I will explore the fundamentals of composition and embark on a visual narrative that celebrates the uniqueness of 'Me, Myself, and I.'
1.1 Postcard 1
The first digital postcard is using “Your Name” movie poster as a idea/ guide. Some elements and principles of design is using within the composition. Thus, my digital postcard will be followed as well.

Elements of Design:
1. Line: The composition may feature dynamic lines to guide the viewer's eye, such as the starlight between two comparison.
2. Shape: The characters and surrounding elements likely form distinct shapes, creating visual interest and balance.
3. Color: Vibrant colors are used to evoke emotion and capture attention, with a blend of warm and cool tones to create contrast and depth.
4. Texture: Different textures may be incorporated, such as the smoothness of the characters' skin contrasted with the roughness of the landscape.
5. Space: Both positive and negative space are utilized to create balance and focus within the composition.

Principles of Design:
1.Balance: The poster likely achieves balance through the distribution of visual elements, ensuring that no single part of the composition overwhelms the rest.
2. Unity/Harmony: Despite the presence of various elements, they are likely unified through a consistent artistic style or thematic coherence.
3. Emphasis: Certain elements, such as the characters and starlight, may be emphasized through size, placement, or contrast to draw the viewer's attention.
4. Contrast: Stark contrasts in color, value, and texture may be used to create visual interest and highlight important elements.
5. Movement/Rhythm: The composition may convey a sense of movement, particularly through the trajectory of the comet or the positioning of the characters, creating a dynamic rhythm that engages the viewer.

The second digital postcard is using “Code 8” movie poster as a guide/ idea. Some elements and principles of design is using within the composition. Thus, my digital postcard will be followed as well.

2. Shape: Various shapes, including geometric shapes and the human form, may be prominent in the characters and surrounding elements.
3. Color: The poster likely uses a palette of futuristic or tech-inspired colors, such as yellow, orange , black and grey to create a sense of the setting and mood.
4. Texture: Different textures may be incorporated to enhance the futuristic aesthetic, such as smooth surfaces for environment and rougher surfaces for objects.
5. Space: Positive and negative space are likely utilized to create balance and focus within the composition, with emphasis on key elements like characters or object.

Rough Sketch 1:
This first idea of the postcard is designed based on my two interests which is drawing and photography. The left side is about I am drawing and the drawing tool, the right side shows a compare about photography and I am capturing the landscape. This design is based on the comparison movie poster “Your Name”.

The Words that motivates me is “Invest in Yourself”. This is because it is important that we invest in ourself for everything we love. I also invest time and effort into honing my drawing and photography skills.

Rough Sketch 2:

This second idea of the postcard is designed based on my two interests which is go tp the beach and playing ukulele. The left side is about I enjoy the beach and talk a walk, the right side is I am playing ukulele. This design is based on the comparison movie poster “Your Name”.

The Words that motivates me is “Live What You Love”. This is because going to the beach and playing the ukulele are activities that bring me joy and fulfillment. "Live what you love" reminds me to prioritize my passions and incorporate them into my daily routine.

Rough Sketch 3:
This third idea of the postcard is designed based on my two interests which is photography and travelling. This design is guide by the movie poster “Code 8”.

The Words that motivates me is “Believe You Can”. Photography is about seeing the world through a unique lens and capturing moments from my own perspective. When I believe in my ability to see beauty in the world around me, traveling becomes an opportunity to explore new perspectives and capture the essence of different cultures, landscapes, and experiences through my lens.

Rough Sketch 4:
This fourth idea of the postcard is designed based on my two interests which is travelling and photography also but in different design. It shows me travelling around the earth to different destinations and I take a camera too. This design is guide by the movie poster “Code 8”.

The Words that motivates me is “Appreciate Everything in Life”. This words encourages me to cultivate gratitude for the experiences I encounter while traveling and photographing. Each destination offers unique sights, sounds, and cultures to explore, and every moment presents an opportunity to capture beauty through my lens. By appreciating the richness of these experiences,I enhance my enjoyment of both traveling and photography.

After my 4 rough sketches, I am choose Rough Sketch 2 and Rough Sketch 3 as my digital postcard design.
