Work done during my time at Westwood College
The following images and videos were done for class work in pursuit of my Bachelor's of Science in Game Art through Westwood College. Most of these aren't really that impressive, but were a big part of my ongoing process of learning and experimentation in digital art. The programs I used include Adobe Photoshop, Flash, and Illustrator, 3Ds Max, and Unreal Engine 3.
this was an assignment to usefacial morph to lip sync to audio. I envisioned this exchange happening between two vikings after a battle. The audio clip is from the film Anchorman. The Freebie Man model used was created by Henleyernest via Turbosquid http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/320800  3Ds max.
Simple character build and rigging for a lighthearted zombie office level design. 3ds Max, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
This view shows the really basic, blocky look I was going for. I got a lot of Lego comparisons from people who viewed these. They weren't UVW mapped with pelts, and I created the mapping from flat files rather than a 3d painting program like mudbox or newer versions of photoshop, so I have some really obvious seams. I was ultimately proud, though, of the coloring and feel of the characters, if not the techniques I used to achieve them. 3Ds max, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
Layout and a couple of screen grabs from my zombie-office level. Lots of filler items were created for this, including desks, monitors, chairs, doors, a stapler, and plants. All of these had  unique UVW maps and physical properties applied to them. I was particularly happy with the uvw mapping on the ceiling tiles. Unreal Engine 3, 3Ds Max, Photoshop, Illustrator.
Floyd, my first full character build. My geometry was really messy, my uvw mapping was ridiculously executed, and honestly I'm a little embarrassed of him these days. However, I find him really motivating to keep around, if only to remind myself of how much I've learned since then. 3Ds Max and Photoshop.
A simple chair prop created for my zombie office level. 3Ds Max and Photoshop.
One of my first prop creations in 3Ds Max, a boom box. 3Ds Max and Photoshop.
A simple drone character built for another Unreal level project set in a space station. 3Ds Max and Photoshop.
Two cargo container props for an Unreal level project set in a spaceport cargo bay. 3Ds Max and Photoshop.
Sad little neglected potted plant prop designed for zombie office level. 3Ds Max and Photoshop.
Animatic for an intro sequence to an alien invasion game. Flash, Photoshop, and felt-tip marker.
I created this character for a paper doll-style flash animatic for a post-apocalyptic alien invasion animation. Pen and ink.
Another character for my alien invasion animatic. Pen and ink.
This was my solution to an Illustrator assignment to create a superhero. An old friend and I had a inside joke for years about her superhero alter ego, Belch Girl, and this was just the latest in a long series of images on the subject. Illustrator.
My solution to an assignment to create a character based on mythology. This character is Tezcatlipoca, more or less the devil in Aztec myth who has a snake for a leg and whose alternate form is a jaguar. Pencil.
Final image created in an assignment to create cover/poster art for a prospective game design. Illustrator.
Combination of raster and vector images in a monochromatic and achromatic composition. Illustrator and Photoshop.
Portrait assignment with Photoshop filter experimentation.
Self portrait assignment in Illustrator.
Self portrait with Photoshop filter experimentation.
Pixelated raster self-portrait. MS Paint.
Early animation for Floyd, my first character. 3Ds Max.
Assignment using particle effects. Light sparking and kicking off. 3Ds Max.
