Split Ends

The task was to create an animated book cover for a memoir based on an undocumented memory.

Young Adi was certain that the perfect way to end a perfect summer was one last slumber party at Jillian’s house but what was supposed to be an afternoon of errands followed by a party was quickly turned into an episode pulled straight out of a criminal drama TV series.
Split Ends is a book about growing up at an age where everything is uncertain.  Schools change, friends are new and pre-teen adolescents learn to find their place in the world through the guidance of their favorite “TGIF” TV shows.  It explores the American dream, as defined in movies and television, as a way to dictate the way we recognize, appreciate and comprehend situations in life.
Cydulkin’s book is not quite a memoir but more a collection of memories, thoughts and ambiguities which ultimately asks the question, “Are movies based on life or is life based on movies?”
