for the 2023 Anáhuac Fashion Show, the theme was "Embroidered Heart," and it involved creating two complete looks, but this time in collaboration with artisans. As usual, teams were formed, and my team decided to work with the artisans from Tolimán, specifically from Doña Mónica's workshop, where four lovely ladies work tirelessly on beautiful embroidery. Before visiting Tolimán, we created some sketches of proposed designs, incorporating embroidery work. For the first look, we chose an asymmetrical dress in grape color with pastel-toned embroidery at the bottom, and for the second look, we decided on a fully embroidered fuchsia crop top.
When we visited the artisans and presented our ideas, we allowed them to give their input, and we gave them the freedom to execute the embroidery parts according to their own vision. The goal was to blend two different styles into one design, showcasing the collaboration between us and the artisans. The result was simply breathtaking. This project has definitely been one of my favorites because I got to experience something totally different and met incredibly talented people like the artisans from Tolimán.
