Paredes de Coura 2014

The Paredes de Coura rock Festival is held every year in August on the banks of the Tabuão river in Paredes de Coura, Portugal. The event regularly draws some of the biggest rock bands in the world. However not all the music fans go just for the music. There is undoubtedly another unique attraction which can only be seen in between the concerts. The banks of the Tabuão river turn into a giant camp site spreading out into the forest. The common spirit is self evident and the camaraderie is palpable. Everyday activities such as charging mobile phones, cooking or simply having a haircut, carry on as usual. During the day many relax on the banks of the river before another night of rock music. Condoms are freely distributed amongst the music fans. Alcohol is consumed and roll up tobacco is very much in fashion.
