Working on a Non-Existent Show:
Mouse Utopia
For a storyboarding class, the professor decided to make us create scenes for his show idea. How's that go? Well, you're about to find out.

While I don't want to spoil the details for his possible show, the gist is that cartoon mice are turning into monstrous mice in a "perfect mouse Utopia".
First came the brainstorming ideas for a pitch and scratching 90% of them stage, which all great story boarders do. These thumbnails were the 2nd and final revision of my pitch. The idea for the scene is taking the two protagonists of the show, big sis & lil' bro, and separating them. Big sister knows about the imminent danger, while little brother is in the dark about it all and is forced to face it on his own by seeing his own mother transform.
Next came the part where I took it to Storyboard Pro, to, well, storyboard it.
This is the final animatic, with some simple sound effects voice acting. Here, I took the opportunity to add some new details like the corpse of the father character, as well as the camera shot where you see the mother's monstrous hand on the door knob; mirroring the one where we see little brother's hand on the other side of the door. This also creates more tension by giving more information to the viewer that the main character of the scene is unaware of.
Overall, I had a blast working on this project. Usually, the students would be assigned to work on their own separate stories for this assignment, but the professor really made it interesting for my class. I would often find myself talking with classmates about our scenes, placing them somewhere in the timeline, and creating new lore. We really felt like a team, something I hadn't experienced before then in class. I'm forever grateful to my professor, Mr. Agosto, for giving us this unique experience.
Hope you liked it~!
