Inspired by the primary Loxam colors, I expanded the palette to facilitate cohesive experiences across products and enhance effective interaction for employees.
Color Vision Deficiency impacts between 3-8% of the world’s population - approximately 150-400 Loxam collaborators. Here it is not just about colors - accessibility shouldn't be an afterthought. Early attention to accessible colors is crucial, preventing the need to revisit the drawing board when designs may not cater to everyone.
How to ajust the design?
Now, as we navigate the realm of design adjustments, consider this as our creative compass. So, how to adjust designs for those with different color perceptions?
Objects proving elusive in color-blind proofs can find clarity through changes in brightness or hue:
Pure 🍅 red tends to appear dark and muddy; orange-red is easier to recognize.
🐢 Bluish green is less confusing than 🎾 yellowish green.
🏐 Gray may be confused with 🔮 magenta, 🧄 pale pink, 🍈 pale green, or 🥦emerald green.
Combinations to avoid: 🍎 red and 🍏 green; 🍋 yellow and 🥝 bright green; light 👕 blue and 👚 pink; 👖 dark blue and ☂️ violet.
Avoid red items on dark-colored backgrounds, or white items on yellow or orange-red backgrounds.
And also...
- Apply different patterns or shapes.
- Add white, black, or dark-colored borders on color boundaries.
- Use different font families or styles.
