Tales of the Wendigo
Project by Livia van Leeuwen and Dana Poeth
Dana and me had to make something with audio, this could be a podcast, video tour or an interview. Both me and Dana wanted to work together and either do a podcast or interview.
Eventually we decided on an interview.
The subject of our interview was Wendigo's, we both love wendigo's so this was a topic we knew a bunch about. The roles were quickly devided, Dana would be the host of the interview and I would be the "expert."

I first started to look up some useful information about Wendigo's and wrote them down:
What are Wendigo’s?

Wendigo’s are creatures originating from folklore, Algonquian folklore to be exact.
Although in different cultures, different versions of the wendigo is told.
It is often said that wendigo’s are malevolent spirits, depicted as a creature with human-like features that possesses human beings.
It is said that a Wendigo can cause victims to feel an insatiable hunger or a desire to eat other humans and the want to commit murder.
In other representations the wendigo is described as a big giant humanoid with a heart of ice. This wendigo’s approach would be signalled by a foul stench or a sudden chill.

Like I said before, in different cultures the wendigo is different than others.
Whenever a wendigo would eat a person, it would grow in proportion to the meal it had just eaten, so the wendigo could never be full, due to this wendigos are portrayed as gluttonous but also extremely thin due to starvation.
The wendigo is seen as the embodiment of gluttony, greed and excess, he’s never satisfied after killing and constantly searching for his next victim.

In some traditions its said that humans overpowered by greed would turn into wendigos. But in other traditions it was said a wendigo was created when a human resorted to cannibalism in emergency situations in order to survive.
And in others humans could turn into wendigos by being in contact with them for too long.
Using this information we wrote questions.
We wanted to talk about wendigos and just give information about them, we also wanted to learn a little bit more about them as we are both huge supernatural (Not the show) fans.
We wanted our audio to sound like we were next to a campfire in the woods at night talking to eachother. We wanted it to be a bit more mysterious and calmer.

Next we recorded our podcast. When he had done this we began to edit the audio. We added some noises to the background like we wanted, we added a campfire crackling and grasshoppers making noises. This was to simulate what we wanted, like we were actually in the woods like I said before.

Because we're both creative we came up with the idea to first make a cover for our podcast and then Dana came up with the idea to add our oc's Alistair (Right) and Crow (Left) talking into the interview. So we would have some visuals.
Dana then made a sketch with how we wanted the cover to be.
I then did line art and colours so our drawing styles would both be in the cover.
I started with the background and the fire.
Dana made the sketches and I did the line art and colouring
Then I put them together and added lights and shadows
Dana then drew a wendigo to put between the trees. She made 2 versions.
We went with the right one. I put it between the trees and Dana added the title and this was our cover
Next Dana made our characters talk. This time she drew them fully herself, in her style. She made 2 versions for our oc's. 1 facing the front and 1 facing eachother.
Dana put them, the audio and a background in Adobe Premiere pro.
This is our end result:
Dana and I are very happy with our end result. We love how it came out, we did laugh a lot during the recording but we had fun. It was a project that gave us the chance to talk about a shared interest of ours and if we had the time and recources our interview couldve gone on for much longer.
This was our podcast project :] I hope you enjoyed our project and don't forget to check out mine and Dana's other projects here on Behance:)
