ACTION FIGURE BOX PROJECT
Animation Maestros SERIES- Emile Cohl
A rough look at the progress for my packaging and prepress course.
The concept was to create a design for an action figure box representing an "unsung" figure who is already passed away but has left behind a sizable footprint in history.
I chose Emile Cohl, a French cartoonist of the 1900s.
At the start, I ran into a few bumps in the road. I was originally thinking of representing the creators of Tom and Jerry but the problem was the creators were still alive!
I had an explosion of ideas that I flooded onto a page. I was keen on creating a catchy series name that wasn't too long and made sense. It wasn't until I brought in the word "Maestro", everything started to piece itself together.
It took many forms as I ran with the design. I was able to pull images from a few of Cohl's animations (mostly his first animation) and there were a couple photos of himself throughout his life that I was able to use.
After several practice prints and multiple tweaks to detail I was finally getting my box to a point where I felt fulfilled about it.
ENFIN!
At last! Or as they would say in French, "Enfin!". The final product of my action figure box was created!
Front to Back
Top to Bottom
This whole project was very rewarding from start to finish. I felt I really grew as an Artists and unlocked new skills that I never knew I would be able to tap into.
