Melbourne Bench

Blade Bench
The blade is an established and multifaceted symbol that belongs to a number of aggressive and defiant subcultures of the 70s, the era of protests and denial, and the “Punk” style. In addition, a razor is a household item that is no longer familiar to the millennial generation and becomes a museum piece as itself. We think everyone can fill an image with their own meanings that are in tune with their life experience. We transferred this image to the bench, transforming the utilitarian function into a decorative one.
The pink color turned the original aggression of the image into FUN. For more irony we made plush finish version. This is an opportunity to abstract from direct associations and look at the familiar from a new angle. We can talk about the symbolism of pink in culture and dig up a lot of interesting things here, but let’s leave this discussion to art critics.
