Boughner said Boyd Gaming doesn't take anything for granted when it comes to the much-anticipated release of internet games. The last thing the company wants to do is damage Borgata's brand.

"From our perspective, we have been very organized, deliberate, and considerate along the way," said Bowner, who led the development and opening of Bogata in 2003. "At the end of the day, we want to expand the Atlantic City market, where we can have online experiences with casinos and real money."

New Jersey became the third state behind Nevada and Delaware to enter the Internet gaming business. The state's gaming enforcement agency oversees a five-day trial period, during which the websites use the website for a limited time to offer limited games to invited guests.

This test allows the New Jersey gaming regulator to ensure that all protocols, including identification, geolocation systems, and money transaction processing software, work.

It operates the website in 12 casinos in Atlantic City and currently has partnerships with online game operators or technology companies. Ultimate Gaming, owned by the majority of station casinos, operates ucasino.com and ultimatepoker.com on behalf of Trump's Taj Mahal. Slot machine maker Bali Technologies is providing online software for Golden Nugget Atlantic City.

Meanwhile, Boyd Gaming is partnering with European online gaming giant Bwin.party to unveil four websites (borgatacasino.com , borga-tapoker.com , and two New Jersey-based partygaming.com websites, one of which is exclusively for poker.

Tom Bratling, chairman of Ultimate Gaming, said the launch will be much different from what he experienced in Nevada when ultimatepoker.com went live on April 30. Ultimate Poker was not in competition until wsop.com began accepting bets last September.
