Background
Aegir Project Brewery gets it's name from the Norse God of brewing - Ægir Hlér. This unique brew is a very limited edition Imperial Stout that has been barrel-aged in french oak Pinot Noir barrels. Only 100 bottles were bottled, each hand numbered.
Project Details
We were tasked with creating a label for this very special one-time-only release. The story we chose to tell with the design is based on the Varangian chieftain Rurik, the founder of the Rurik Dynasty in Novgorod, the cradle of Russian statehood. Rus translates to "the men who row", a name given to the Vikings. The hand drawn raven references the Norse God Odin's ravens, Huginn and Muninn. The hand drawn map shows the region around the Novgorod area. The type is inspired by Russian Cyrillic script.
