A couple of days before the 25th of April of 2023, a Greek/German friend of mine asked me if I was not going to Portugal for 25th of April. It didn’t even cross my mind as an emigrant since priorities are other family meetings. But he made me think about it, and think I was letting this day become a faint memory. So I took it as a challenge to take 2 days to make a concept, storyboard, illustration and animation to remember this day the way I know how.
For those who do not know the importance of this day, sum it up: it was the end of almost 50 years of fascism, persecution, colonialism, war and the beginning of freedom. The Revolution was called the “Carnation Revolution” since thousands of people went to the street and joined the armed forces ( MFA) putting red carnations on their guns showing how you can fight violence with peace.
