Ukrainian sun

“When the Ukrainian sun rises, Russia will disappear” Dzokhar Dudayev.
“Ukrainian sun” is an artwork which I have created as an artist in residence at “Uzupis Art Incubator”, Vilnius, Lithuania . It is the third artwork I have named by this name and probably not the last. When something important happens, something that might affect an artist's creative process and pushes him/her to build up something important on that topic, usually that takes a long enough time to see the result of anything valuable and interesting. When the Russian terrorist state started a full scale military attack on Ukraine, Unfortunately my creativity was more than ready to accompany the development of this disastrous war. The reason why that happened so naturally for me is that my art has been focused on the problems of Russian occupation for the past few years. The reason is that I am from Georgia, the country which has been suffering from Russian imperialism for more than the last 200 years and 20% of my country is still occupied by Russian terrorists. Despite the state being captured in Georgia by Russian oligarch, the absolute majority of Georgian citizens, consider the war in Ukraine as their common war with Ukrainians against Russia. The Georgian volunteer military units are the largest foreign units who are fighting in Ukraine side by side with Ukrainian soldiers against the Russian terrorist state.Unfortunately 48 of them fell on the battlefield and sacrificed their lives for Ukraine, for Georgia and for peace and freedom in the whole world. The bravest of the humans are fighting on battlefields right now, but the least we all can do is to support Ukraine whenever it is possible. I think every single, small support for Ukraine matters. That is what I try to do with my artworks and will do till the victory of Ukraine and as a brave freedom fighter, first president of independent Ichkeria, Dzokhar Dudayev said: “When the Ukrainian sun rises, Russia will disappear”. I am waiting for the Ukrainian sunrise.

The battle of Mariupol
Oil on canvas
200 X 260 cm
2022
“The battle of Mariupol” is an art project of a single painting. This artwork is dedicated to the heroes of Azov regiment, who have been defending Mariupol during the siege of Mariupol, which started on 24 February 2022 when Russian Terrorist state started war against Ukraine and whole democratic world and concluded on 20 May. Many heroes sacrificed their lives to protect civilians, to protect their country and whole democratic world from the attack of Russian terrorists, baby killers and rapers evil empire. This artwork is for them!
I decided to create this artwork in my Great-grandparent’s house in Gori, who had to move to the city of Gori after the Soviet Russian occupation of the Georgian city Sochi. Gori itself , the main city of the heart of the Georgia, Kartli region , was bombed during Russian invasion of Georgia in 2008.Two of the founders of Azov regiment were Georgian officers , unfortunately one has sacrificed his life for Ukraine, Georgia, Europe and whole democratic world, another was wounded during siege and hardly survived, lot of Georgian soldiers fell during defence of Ukraine…
But there is nothing new in these things, the same sacrifice was made by Ukrainians during the Georgian-Russian war several times…
Even this short description of my recent project shows how our destiny, Georgians & Ukrainians is connected forever.
This is our common war!
We will win together!
Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to Georgia!

Enguri-Victims of Russian occupation
Watercolor & acrylic on paper on plywood
91.5 x 127 cm
2021
This artwork is dedicated to all victims of Russian occupation and especially to Gali district Georgians who were drowned while swimming the Enguri River to reach Tbilisi-controlled territory from occupied Abkhazia on April 7 2021.
Two regions of Georgia, Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region which contains 20 % of entire Georgia are occupied by Russian Federation.
River Enguri is dividing occupied Abkhazia from Tbilisi - controlled territory.
Although nearly 90 % of native Georgians were forced to leave their homes and are refugees in their own Country, there are still around 30,000 Georgians living in Gali district and they have to cross river Enguri secretly if they want to get into Tbilisi-controlled territory
