the design site for the future rehabilitation center is located in the city of zhytomyr. the terrain has a slight elevation difference of up to 0.5 m in some areas. it is planned to partially preserve the trees and use them for the recreation area.
bus route 126 is located 500 meters from the rehabilitation center. if it is not possible to install a new public bus stop near the center, the project proposes to install it on street chudnivske to enable people without a car to get to the center.
the project was developed on the basis of recommendations and comments from qualified employees of medical institutions in Kyiv, medical rehabilitation centers and individual specialists in the relevant field.
the main ideas are compactness, convenience and accessibility. two volumes of different heights with health, outpatient, food and residential functions were designed.
the technical rooms are located to the north, while the inpatient unit, dining room, and wellness block are located on the more comfortable side of the world, to the southeast. the main areas of the center are arranged in blocks so that the flows of outpatient visitors and patients do not intersect with each other.
taking into account the need of the military to feel comfortable and safe, it was decided to use bionic forms as a basis and smooth out some of the corners of the building to achieve a sense of security inside the center. a sufficient amount of natural light is provided due to the large number of applied facade translucent systems.
metal lamellas arranged along the entire height of the hospital provide security for the patients of the rehabilitation center. the same metal lamellas provide additional protection and some privacy on the operated terrace of the second floor of the center. the lamellas are turned at a special angle so that people on the street cannot see what is outside the lamellas, and the patients themselves, being inside the building, can see the entire environment and feel one with it.
a metal frame and tie-in system was used. an underground floor has been designed to function as a shelter, which can later be redesigned into an underground parking lot.
taking into account the project proposal of the Zhytomyr city authorities to renovate the hydropark and given that the site is in close proximity to it, the color scheme of the project was chosen in warm natural colors, namely light and dark brown shades, which is similar to tree trunks. the principle of merging with the environment was the basis of the building's facade and planning solutions.
