ENG         The thesis project delves into the social implications of communication design, investigating how the profession of a designer can influence and shape the thoughts of individuals and society. The book is divided into six chapters, each addressing a specific theme of our interest: aesthetics, experimentation, cities, culture, politics, and people. At the conclusion of the research, two interviews were also conducted: the first with Giorgia Lupi, information designer and partner at Pentagram, and the second with Thierry Brunfaut, co-founder of the Base Design studio. The design approach of the book is the result of research and experimentation around the ideals of the Dutch studio Experimental Jetset: the goal is to make the book a tangible and material object by employing different visual solutions, such as the overlay of textual elements, unconventional cuts of photographic elements, and an extensive use of white space.

ITA         Il progetto di tesi approfondisce le ricadute sociali del design e della comunicazione, indagando su come la professione del designer può influire e modellare il pensiero delle persone e della società. Il volume è diviso in sei capitoli, ciascuno dei quali affronta una tematica specifica di nostro interesse: estetica, sperimentazione, città, cultura, politica e persone. Al termine della ricerca sono state inoltre effettuate due interviste: la prima a Giorgia Lupi, information designer e partner di Pentagram, e la seconda a Thierry Brunfaut, cofondatore dello studio Base Design. La progettazione grafica del volume è il risultato di un lavoro di ricerca e sperimentazione attorno agli ideali dello studio olandese Experimental Jetset: l’obiettivo è quello di rendere il libro un oggetto concreto e materico sfruttando differenti soluzioni visive, come la sovrapposizione di elementi testuali, tagli inusuali degli elementi fotografici e un ampio uso dello spazio bianco.
