Pindi Mall: A Revolutionary Blend of Tradition and Modernity, Redefining Retail for Rawalpindi's Middle-Class Community
Pindi Mall, a visionary project by COOOP in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, is strategically positioned in a densely packed area, making it a central hub connecting the Railway Station and the vibrant Saddar Bazaar. Tailored specifically for the Middle-Class demographic, the concept revolves around a unique blend of a traditional bazaar and a modern mall – coined as a "bazaar mall." This innovative approach prioritizes comfort, spatial quality, affordability, relatability, and variety.

Unlike conventional luxurious malls, the essence of Pindi Mall lies in providing an economical and accessible space for the nearby community. The design embraces the plot's natural contours, shaping the mall's form, while internal spaces are meticulously crafted to simplify the overall experience for visitors. The internal atmosphere is open and modernized, fostering a welcoming environment that eases any potential intimidation, especially for those visiting such a space for the first time.

In the lead designer role, COOOP emphasizes a holistic approach, integrating 'Design for Behaviour' principles. This ensures that Pindi Mall not only serves its functional purpose but also creates an environment that encourages positive behaviours and community engagement within its mixed-use framework. Ultimately, Pindi Mall stands as more than just a retail space; it represents a thoughtful and community-centric approach to urban design, addressing the unique needs of the local Middle-Class population in Rawalpindi.
