An excerpt of the accompanying written work:
For me, colour is the most important element in art - to an extend that the colour composition used in a piece of art is a major factor in determining whether I like it or not.
Apart from colours; logic, minimalism and asceticism are equally important. I have an inner need for my works to be minimalistic. They also have to stick to rules that I made up using my logic.
All these factors are important in my works no matter what medium I work in. During the process of creating my art work, I minimalise my means of expression, I avoid decorating and eliminate redundant elements. I am aspiring to show my idea in the most minimal way possible. I do not use colour as a ‘tool’ to fill out certain shapes but to make colour the protagonist and show it the way it is.
I worked out my own monotype technique to create my works in order to achieve perfect gradients.
I approach the working process as a discoverer, a scientist and a traveler. I have in front of me a flat surface, red, blue and yellow and white printing inks and lithographic rubber rollers. By mixing and spreading the ink, I achieve colour compositions which I am able to retain on paper forever.
