Overview
​​​​​​Creating a mobile app for Sammie's Gourmet Subs that not only assists in an easy application process, but also with making it look modern.
Description
Sammy’s is the brainchild of Samantha Resse who wants to provide young entrepreneurs the opportunity to franchise and open their online sub shops for less than $20,000, instead of the $500,000 average bricks and mortar franchise cost like Jimmy John’s.
Problem Statement
What if Sam could connect entrepreneurs like herself and those with excess food prep/storage capacity? What if she could be the one to sell franchises using her sub-recipes, online brand value proposition, digital brand management tools, and menu?
User Personas
These user personas were kept in mind before making the prototypes.
Roles and Responsibility
My role was to design and create the Rent A Kitchen portion of the Sammie's Gourmet Subs mobile app.

- Low-fidelity Balsemiq prototype

- High-fidelity Figma prototype
Scope and Constraints
I had the entirety of the Fall 2023 semester from September to December to work on this assignment step by step. However, each part required a different part needed to create this project.

Some constraints I had were not being able to fully work on this project as other classes took priority from time to time.
Process
First I started with brain storming ideas for what the site needed and the scope of the site itself. This took a larger overview of how the app was needed for the community.
Above is some research before making the prototypes. This had adjacent research such as Vrbo and Airbnb.
Above is the video of the paper prototypes being preformed. This displays the moving parts before anything was made digitally.
Above are the Balsemiq prototypes. This prototype was user tested with four different individuals which assisted in feedback for the final prototype.
Above is the video of the finished Figma prototype. This prototype has more moving parts and bigger buttons due to finger movability. More in-depth information was added for the Sammie's history and authenticity.
Outcomes and Lessons
Challenges
- Time management is crucial for projects like these. Between having classes and other commitments, it was a challenge that I enjoyed.
- Making prototypes were new and things I never did before. This project gave me a good understanding on what it meant to step into the shoes of a UX/UI designer.
- Finding places that rents out their place was difficult as the full process of application due to property restriction.
