THE NEXT BEST THING

THE NEXT BEST THING
You're walking out one evening, having a good time with your friends, family or a loved one and suddenly it is ruined by pain in your foot. When stopping to look what's wrong, you find that the bottom of your shoe is broken.
How may we fix the broken shoe? How may we prevent it from breaking?
We live in the 21st century, where phones dominate our every day life. We check our phones when we wake up, we mark our doctor appointment in our mobile phone calendar rather than a real one, when we get sick, we google the symptoms first, even though we know we shouldn't.
Point is, phones are there every day, which is why my digital solution to our problem is an app and an online website.
This is valuable to the user, simply, because it is convenient and less time consuming. Your phone is always in your back pocket, in your hands, in your purse or anywhere near you. User has the chance to gain information with just a few clicks and makes decision making easier. Rather than standing there and figuring out how to get home with your broken shoe or running around shops, asking if they can fix it, you can open the app and find the solution, in fact, multiple solutions just clicks away that can let you look at all your possibilities, no matter the location or time.

3 DIGITAL SOLUTIONS
The solutions focus on finding a way to fix the broken bottom of the shoe, like replacing it completely or getting something to stick it together back with the shoe, for a temporary fix and ways to prevent this from happening, like the custom shoe website, allows user to custom make their shoes for their own needs and allows them to be comfortable.

REFLECTION
This was a very fun assignment, it started off difficult because i couldn't wrap my head around a digital solution for a broken shoe, but when thinking outside of the box about questions like "how may we prevent the shoe from breaking?" got me thinking and allowed me to create 3 digital solutions. Of course all three were not easy to come up with but it was good practice to think outside the box and not "how to fix shoe".
Most fun was creating the story and solution board, as well as the visual for the 3 ideas i had. It was fun to think about how to make it accessible and easy for users to use, and how quickly they gain information.  I definitely need to practice brainstorming and how to note it all down, neatly, and to think differently, not about the obvious questions.
