My first serious venture into animation! This was animated during my second semester at my current school and was either the first or earliest “big” assignment. My background in animation before this was exceeding simple such as making stop motion videos with my dolls and using FlipNote on my 3DS as a tween. You can imagine the intimidation and hesitation I felt going into this project. Especially when the assignment called for use to animate a metamorphosis.

I’m not sure how I would describe my process other than frantically looking up a million metamorphosis and animation references. I’d study frame by frame to understand what I had gotten myself into.

To my surprise, I was really impressed with how it turned out! The feedback I received from my professor and fellow students was positive as well with descriptions being “smooth” and “unbelievable.”

It was traditionally animated on sheets of paper with fine liners and alcohol markers. The character portrayed is Spring Bonnie/Springtrap from the popular horror franchise Five Nights at Freddy’s
