The next best thing

There are people who are facing sleep issues due to their roommates or partners snoring. It causes a lot of problems for people to relax and to fall asleep as other people snoring creates loud noises which are even more heard during the night time. The situation presented in the image states that the girl is living in a shared room which other 2 girls and one of them is snoring every night. This is the main factor why the author of this problem is feeling tired and not getting enough sleep during the night. The question is how might we protect the author from hearing the snoring sound across the room. Or we can think how might we isolate the sound of snoring.  By asking these questions I came up with the solution that should not only help the people who are dealing with snoring but also will have more benefits and features that can be helpful for other people.
This is the problem i chose.
The problem storyboard :
Brainstorm the solution to the existing problem.
Solution 1:  Control yourself
Snoring is an action that person who is sleeping can’t control in this case one of the solutions can start by changing your attitudes and emotional response to the snoring sound. One of the solution can be to practice relaxation and being able to control your emotions. This may take some time, but if you know that you will have to live with that person for a long time you might give it a shot. Being able to control your emotional response can help in various life situations. This could be useful not only when trying to fall asleep. Thus, all your effort won’t be only focused for dealing with snoring. After being able to control your emotions, you can use snoring as a replacement to white noise.
Solution 2: if it aint broke don’t fix it
Snoring roommate is universal problem and can be seen all around the world. Also, it has been an issue for a long time. Thus, it means there is a lot of solutions or gadgets already created for people to confront this issue. It might be a simple solution, but it is also quite flexible and budget friendly. The amount you want to invest can be decided by how long you will need them. If it is a short trip and suddenly you find out that the person next to you sleeping is snoring, you can choose a cheap gadget such as ear plugs that will help you for a few nights and won’t cost you a fortune. On the other hand, if it is a long-term problem, there is also gadgets that might cost more.
Solution 3: Sleeping Bubble
In combination from another field, I found a solution that could be very useful in a lot of different ways and one of them being snoring. It is a bubble that can be used to cover the bed. Bubble will be made out of sound proof material, that will help to eliminate the snoring sound. This bubble is not only for the person who snores, but for others also. As it eliminates the sound from inside and also doesn’t let any sound in the bubble. It will be universal and can be useful for everyone who has some kind of issues with sound during the night, it might be noisy neighbors. The bubble won’t be only focused to eliminate sound, it will also have an air ventilation that will provide fresh air all night long. Furthermore, while providing fresh air, you can also adjust the temperature of the air that is coming to the bubble, this way you can have the most optimal temperature while sleeping. Even more, you can use this bubble transparent or from opaque material that can also be useful in various ways. There can be implemented a lot more features that will help people to sleep.

The Pitch:
Reflection:
During this assignment I learned that implementing products that or solutions from other fields and adjusting them can be an amazing idea and solution. Seeing products in another use or from different angle can be difficult and can be limited by your knowledge in different fields. The biggest challenge was to make a pitch video, because I am a bit of camera shy and do not feel comfortable in front of camera.
