PSA Poster Project
Project Statement
PSA - FeedAfricaFoundation
The objective for this project was to create a Public Service Announcement Poster, as well as Ads, that portray a real-life message from a real or conceptual organization and are visually eye-catching. My PSA series brings awareness to starvation in Africa for the FeedAfricaFoundation. This was done by embodying the elements of Africa and creating an African continent made from images of African children to catch viewers' attention. There are three main images in my posters and ads. On my prints and ads, these pictures were used individually to make the interaction with the viewer more personal since these ads will be physically much closer to the viewer (social media, websites, etc.). I used a black background to make the words and images the main focus of the posters and ads. My series includes Moonrising and Kiona font, which closely resembles African culture and typography, to grab readers' attention and then allow them to read the important information smoothly. The color Red was used in all posters and ads to grab attention and highlight the most important information.

Poster Versions
My original idea for this project was to provoke real-life emotions by using images of real people instead of using illustrations. I gathered the three images below, and I knew I wanted to remake the shape of Africa using these images, representing the children who make up the future of Africa.
After lots of pen tool and path making I created this image of Africa
After creating the Africa image, I wanted to find different ways to not only create the Africa image but also the individual images within it. Below are some of the first versions of my final poster.
Final Poster Designs
After some minor tweaks and decisions, I decided to stick with these two posters for my final designs. One poster encapsulates the future of Africans and how many of them don't even receive the proper diet, and the other poster is more personable, creating 1-on-1 connections with the child in the design and prompting them to prevent kids like him from starving.
