 A Thespian is a baptised and initiated student at the department of Theatre Arts at the University of Ibadan. Initiation has been an age-long practise since the inception of the department and has ever since became a culture for incoming students. In order for them to be a Thespian, they must be initiated - meaning, they have the right to act on stage, talk in the congress, hold elected positions of their choice. The initiation process is meant to instill discipline in terms of time management, punctuality and mutual respect, exercises (which are usually rigorous) endurance and ultimately, a bond between classmates.
