● El Sortidor Civic Center ●
Mural for El Sortidor Civic Center in Poble Sec Neighbourhood (Barcelona, Spain)
Celebrating their 20th anniversary. Organized by Arnau gallery.
In this commission, they wanted me to represent different aspects from the Civic Center: Performing Arts & Gastronomy & Popular Culture of the El Poble Sec.
● Performing Arts ●
Here you can see two projects from the Civic Center based in Performing Arts:
One is "Moving dance Project" and the other one is "Harness Dance" focused on Vertical Dance.
● Gastronomy ●
The Civic Center is specialised in Workshops about Gastronomy but always working also values: knowing gastronomy from different cultures, talking about reuse, etc.
● Popular Culture ●
They wanted to represent the Popular Culture from the Poble Sec in the mural.
So here it appears a "geganta" (It means a giant in Catalan and it's part of the Popular Culture of Catalonia) that represents a Vedette from the Paral·lel Street.
Some years ago this street in Barcelona was full of Theaters and Cabarets,
that's why they decided to do the Vedette Giant as a tribute.
It also appear a "demon" doing "correfoc", another typical tradition in Catalonia with people dressed as demons carrying fireworks through the streets.
This one is wearing the costume from the Poble Sec neighbourhood.
● Previous Sketches ●
